Recently a group of local Girl Scouts from troop 5965 in Redondo Beach cleared the area to the north of the path and planted some local native honeysuckles. In addition, there are several ongoing and past research projects supervised by CSUDH Biology faculty members at the preserve, on topics as diverse as improving restoration techniques, monitoring the aquatic invertebrates that inhabit the swamp, and the insects that are found in the Arroyo Willows.
